City trip and social support to Essaouira (2 days experience)

Program

Day 1

Today we will travel towards the Atlantic Ocean to Essaouira. The name Essaouira comes from ‘’ AL SOUIRAH ‘’ meaning the little fortress surrounded by walls. The town is bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. Because it lies right on the sea, Essaouira was obliged to defend itself from pirate assaults from all shores, and sheltered behind walls reputed impossible to storm.

Along the way, we will pick up some supplies and stop to visit the Social Center in Al-Hanshan. This is an institution that cares for elderly people without a home or a family, and it also cares for people with a mental disability who are homeless and have no breadwinners. We will have lunch in this association and give them some supplies to support their good work.

Then continuation to Essaouira. Overnight at the hotel or at home stay.

Day 2

Walking tour to visit Essaouira and visit artisans during their work and opportunity to participate and try their work. Ancient Portuguese harbour (known as Mogador), a nice little town on the Atlantic Ocean, Essaouira is today a sea resort. But it has kept its famous and ancient handcraft in its Medina, where thuja and citrus mingle their scents as they are carved in multiple shapes.

After walking tour, visit the association Darna. Association Essaouira Darna is an Essaouira social protection establishment that welcomes abandoned children and children in difficult situations in the province of Essaouira and provides social protection benefits to this category.

The guest can participate with children in painting workshops, gardening workshops, or other activities and have lunch with them.

Afternoon return to Marrakech.
